Darren and Helen’s jolly fun and succesful quiz night

After weeks of planning and months of approaching businesses for donations, Darren and Helen put on an incredible quiz night raising £1,436 for In Jolly Good Company.

It was great to see such a wonderful turnout. Wimborne Football Club was filled to the rafters with competitors. Helen and Darren kicked off the evening by introducing our charity and showing our film. This event was the first of two events Sherrin Consultancy (soon to be Shoreline IT) are organising and hosting to raise much-needed funds for In Jolly Good Company, and we are very grateful to them.

Huge thanks go to Steve Matthews for taking on the microphone duties for the quiz, raffle and auction and to Wimborne Town Football Club for hosting us (and donating season tickets to the auction).

Steve made a very witty Quiz Master and did an amazing job keeping everything running smoothly and everyone entertained. The quiz consisted of three rounds of quiz questions and three rounds of picture quizzes, which all had to be completed during their allotted question round, adding an edge of pressure and making it more competitive for regular quizzers.

The final scores were very close, with the top score being a two-team tie – they both scored 138. This meant it had to go to a tiebreaker round. 'Making up the Numbers' won the night and took home the Hall & Woodhouse vouchers, just pipping 'Six Nations' to the winning post.

There was a grand raffle with a great selection of prizes from chocolate, wine, socks, more socks, and lunch for two at The Green Man to name a few. Helen drew the tickets while Steve read out the winning numbers.

Things got hilarious when the ‘Six Nations’ team all guys, had individual tickets drawn throughout the raffle, and they all won socks!

Prizes galore!

The evening ended with the much-awaited auction, which went down a storm, with people outbidding each other left, right and centre! The two Wimborne town season tickets and Four Ball at Ashley Wood golf course were particularly popular and the bidding got very competitive.
