Fundraising
We get by with a little help from our friends…
We really rely on the donations from our guests who attend our groups. Whilst there is no set charge we encourage people to give as much as they can afford. We are a registered charity and we constantly need to raise funds to subsidise our Jolly Days. It currently costs us £50 per guest for a Jolly Day and £70 per head when lunch is supplied.
Thank you very much for all your donations. It’s so important to us as without them we couldn’t make this happen. It’s true what they say… every little really does help. It’s easy to donate, simply click on the button below and it’ll take you directly to our Localgiving page.

Annie Walton
We’re very grateful to share that our friend Annie Walton is running the Moors Valley Half Marathon Trail in Dorset on 25th January, part of the Moors Valley Wildwood Trail Series, to raise money for In Jolly Good Company. She’s currently preparing for what the organisers describe as ‘sneaky inclines’.
Annie is a wonderful cello player and teacher, and I’ve been lucky to be one of her pupils for the past few years. During that time, she’s told me how much she’s noticed the dedication and hard work that goes into what we do, and how meaningful that has been to her. That’s why she’s chosen to support our work. Thank you so much, Annie.

2025 Fundraisers
Luke Ballard
Local long-distance runner Luke Ballard took on two major challenges this year to support In Jolly Good Company, inspired by his own family’s experience of dementia.
In May, he completed the 56km Ultralight Trail Snowdonia, finishing in 11 hours, 30 minutes and raising £2,370. His second challenge saw him run solo across Dorset, from Lyme Regis to Tollard Royal, completing the 18-hour effort with support from friends who joined him along the way. His partner, Rachel, kept everyone updated and organised a wonderful welcome at the finish.
Altogether, Luke raised an amazing £3,450. These funds go directly towards helping older people in Dorset enjoy companionship and joy at our Jolly Days.
A huge thank you to Luke and everyone who supported him. It was a pleasure to celebrate his achievement at the finish line.
Shoreline IT
Darren and Helen Walmsley from Shoreline IT (Wimborne) hosted 2 events this year. The first was a very successful quiz night and fabulous raffle in June, at Wimborne Football Club. There was a fabulous turnout and some amazing raffle prizes.
The second event was a fantastic Fundraising Cricket Day at Colehill Sports and Social Club in support of In Jolly Good Company. Local businesses competed on the pitch, and the community turned out in great numbers to enjoy the free, family-friendly event.
Despite limited seating and some unpredictable weather, everyone made the most of the day—moving indoors for skittles, darts and pool when needed. There was also face painting, a cake sale, games, and a BBQ with veggie options, making it a fun occasion for all ages.
A very big thank you to Darren, Helen, and everyone who came along to support the event!
Fundraisers who’ve helped us in the past…
Thank you Julie
Julie Foulkes completed the National Three Peaks Challenge on June 21st 2024 at the grand old age of 63. The ‘Peaky Climbers’ as her team called themselves, completed the challenge in 24 hrs 36 minutes and arrived home at just before 8 pm exhausted after very little sleep from Thursday night and feeling very stiff but very proud.
Well done Julie, we are so proud of you and a massive thank you for rasing funds for us, it’s very much appreciated.
Thank you, Graham
We are hugely grateful to Graham who celebrated his 60th birthday by cycling 125 laps of the village and completing a total of 100 miles to raise money for In Jolly Good Company and the Salisbury Samaritans. we received £1,030 in total with gift aid, which is incredible.
Thank you to each and everyone of you who donated and supported both us and Graham, it is very much appreciated. This donation enables us to continue with our hugely successful ‘Jolly Postal Service’ which is a free service.
Thank you Maddie
Maddie Rock walked the South West Coast path from Minehead to Poole and recorded her journey by painting along the way. She’s an incredible artist. The 630-mile adventure took her a total of 71 days to complete.
During her walk many people asked her if she was raising money for charity and expressed a wish to make a donation. Having given this much thought she very kindly decided to raise funds for us. We were over the moon and very grateful. Thank you, Maddie, you really do ‘Rock’.
We are also very grateful for the support of the following organisations:
The Digby Trust, Churchill Retirement Living, Dorset Community Foundation, Coral Samuel Charitable Trust, Knowlton Parish Community Benefit Fund, Blandford Town Council and Shaftesbury Town Council, Holman Automotive.
Fancy volunteering?
Become a ‘Jolly Volly’
We couldn’t do any of what we do or support the numbers of people we do without the help of our amazing volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, we currently need people to help at Jolly St Giles, West Moors and our Step Outside allotments at Kingston Lacy. We are also seeking volunteers who would like to enable our guests to take part in the activities on offer and we are busy building a Jolly Fundraising Team. Whatever your talents, you will be much appreciated, well supported and part of a friendly team.
