All Out for a Good Cause at Charity Cricket Match

What an amazing day! And it was all thanks to Darren and Helen of Shoreline IT, who dreamed up and organised this fun day to raise funds for In Jolly Good Company.

Four teams battled it out for the top spot – three representing local businesses, Shoreline IT, The Green Man, and DMW Architects, and a fourth team of Bristolians and Wimbornians who brilliantly named themselves ‘Brimborne’.

The cricket itself brought plenty of excitement (and a few bumps and bruises along the way – one even needed a quick trip to Poole A&E, but thankfully no broken bones!). In a nail-biting final that went right down to the very last ball, Shoreline IT came out victorious over Brimborne. Meanwhile, The Green Man claimed third place after edging past DMW Architects, who gamely took home the wooden spoon.

Off the pitch, the fundraising was just as impressive. The raffle raised over £500, the auction brought in more than £1,000, and with the ever-popular cake stall, BBQ, and the wheelbarrow-of-wine game adding another £400, plus entry fees from the teams, the grand total for the day reached just over £3,000!

None of it would have been possible without so many people pitching in. Huge thanks to Colehill Sports & Social Club for hosting, The Green Man Wimborne for raising more than £250 in raffle ticket sales ahead of the day, Savvy Sunflower for donating all their profits, and AE Insurance Brokers (Romsey) for supplying some fantastic raffle prizes. And of course, a special shout-out to Steve Matthews for his brilliant auctioneering skills, which really helped boost the total.

Together with the quiz we held at Wimborne Town Football Club in June, we’ve now smashed our £5,000 target – with the combined total looking to be around £5,300!

“We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part, supported, and donated to these events. We wish Sarah and the whole In Jolly Good Company team all the very best as they continue their amazing work in the community.”
