Julie’s ran to raise money for us

On 22nd of June the amazing Julie Foulkes (58 years young) took part in the Race to the Kings, a 52 mile Cross Country run across the South Downs starting at Slindon near Arundel and finishing some 14 to 16 hours later that day at Winchester Cathedral.

Julie taught our painting class at our first meeting and I’m sure some of you remember her and what a fantastic afternoon we had learning to use our creative skills.

Julie says: “I would just like to say thank you to everyone who sponsored me for the Race to the Kings 53 mile run. I don’t know the exact amount raised but believe it to be over £600, but there is still some money to be added . All the money raised will go directly to In Jolly Good Company a brilliant new project helping people with Physical and mental health needs. Good Luck Sarah Rampton. Your doing a wonderful job.”.

Our launch party

What celebrated the launch of In Jolly Good Company on 8th August. Fifty friends, family, supporters, volunteers and people keen to find out more about what we are offering, gathered on a sunny afternoon in Wimborne St Giles Village Hall.

Lord Shaftesbury (our Patron) gave a cracking opening speech, we enjoyed delicious creams tea and homemade cake and were royally entertained by Kate on the piano and then we sang together, led by Clara and Colin.

The atmosphere of goodwill, fun and support towards our work was incredible.  Although this was a free event, we raised £187 in donations towards our goal of providing community, connection, support and uplifting activities for older people from Wimborne St Giles and beyond. Thank you all so much for coming along and supporting this special launch party.
