Welcome to our latest round robin with all our news and the dates and times of our February Jolly Days.

Beyond the Lines

The private view of our Beyond the Lines ageing creatively photography exhibition was a great success, and it even featured on Meridian News. Michael, one of our Wimborne Jolly guests, was interviewed about living with dementia and the importance of his support network.

The exhibition is on until the 28th March in the second-floor foyer (lift available) of the Lighthouse in Poole. It showcases striking black-and-white portraits taken by our guests of each other, with some images accompanied by audio interviews.

These photographs invite you to look beyond the lines on our faces and see older people as connected, creative, purposeful and full of life, with stories, wisdom and futures that still matter.

A wonderful Jolly breakfast was enjoyed by all of those who came to The Green Man pub in Wimborne for our first Brekkie Club. Kat, Scott and Carol did us proud with delicious food and friendly company. Thank you.

Kat and Scott are kindly offering Jolly guests a freshly cooked breakfast with tea or coffee for the special price of £7.99 per person. We meet next on Friday, the 6th February.

She did it!

We have great news regarding Annie Walton’s Half Marathon at Moors Valley. Annie flew around the course in 1 hr 54 minutes. Proving that not only is she an excellent musician, but that she was born to run, too. She also finished in the top 10 women!

Annie has raised an incredible £892.50 so far, and this will cover the cost of over 15 music sessions with local musicians at our Jolly Days. Should you still wish to donate, just click the button below. Thank you to all of you who have given so generously, we realise that this time if year can be a lean time financially for people, your kindness means a lot.

Lunch is served

Great news – the free Jolly Friendly Winter Lunch Delivery service will continue weekly until mid-March. We may on occasion alter the delivery day if there is illness or bad weather. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.

We are hugely grateful to The Valentine Charitable Trust and The Friendly Food Club for keeping this vital service up and running. Also, to our fabulous ‘dinner lady’ Kate, who is always up for a chat on her delivery rounds and to Anni who kindly steps in if Kate is unavailable.

If any of our readers work for a company or organisation that likes to give to charity – please consider In Jolly Good Company – all our funds go directly to improving the lives of the people we support. 

We are reliant on the voluntary donations of our guests – but these have been badly affected by the increase in the cost of living. We are a registered charity and we constantly need to raise funds to subsidise our Jolly Days. It currently costs us £50 per guest for a Jolly Day and £70 per head when lunch is supplied.

We are so grateful to The National Lottery for our funding as well as all our other funders – but this does not cover the whole cost of running our vital service.
